I was asked recently for some nuggets of advice regarding pastoral ministry and came up with these:
“people often don’t mean what they say”
“some members need a lot of visits, some members don’t”
“nobody understands what it is like to be a minister” coupled with “don’t get cynical”
“Be patient but don’t fall asleep”
